GRAB BARS / SAFETY RAILS QUESTIONS:
Q. What’s the difference between Grab Bars and Safety Rails?
A. Nothing, they are the same thing.
Q. Where is the best location for my grab bar/safety rail?
A. When in doubt, always place the Grab Bar HORIZONTAL to the floor (typically 33”-36” high) – this gives you the best support. One of the primary purposes of a grab bar is to give support when you slip or fall. Only horizontal grab bars acts like a shelf – all other installations will depend on your hand grip for holding your entire body weight! There have been instances when a grab bar was installed on an angle and individuals have injured their wrists trying to support their weight in a fall.
Q. How do your grab bars compare on quality/price?
A. Simply the BEST QUALITY grab bars from the manufacturer to the packaging, along with our BEST PRICING guarantee.
Q. Why do you recommend bar diameters 1-¼”-1-½”?
A. These dimensions have been taken from all railings (stairs, commercial, etc.). The idea is to give sufficient surface to get a grip and prevent injuries or damage from too thin a bar.
Q. Why is there 1-½” space between the bar and the wall?
A. It’s the ideal dimension. Any less and some people would not be able to fit their hand around the bar. GRAB BARS THAT EXTEND OFF THE WALL MORE THAN 1-½” ARE DANGEROUS. If your hand and arm were to slip between the bar and the wall and you continued to fall, you could easily break your arm!
Q. What finishes are available?
A. Our products are available in many different finishes including Bright (Polished Chrome), Satin (Brushed Nickel), Poly-Grip (Nylon), Diamond Knurled and Peened.
WINGITS QUESTIONS:
Q.What’s a WingIt?
A. WingIt is a Fastening System like no other in the world. It is highly engineered to extract the maximum force efficiencies from walls.
Q. What makes it "The World's Strongest Fastener"?
A. Simply put, the WingIt translates forces into compressive forces within itself and will not loosen over time.
Q. What about humid / wet conditions?
A.The WingIt is completely SELF-WATERPROOFING as you install it, even over grout lines. We use 3M's BEST waterproofing material.
Q. Which WingIt should I use for my application?
A. For installing Grab Bars - most Grab Bars use the Standard Grab Bar WingIt. Reverse Grab Bar WingIts are used commercially when using Stainless Grab Bars into 2" x 3" wall framing. Set Screw WingIts are only used with Set Screw Grab Bar (institutional).

INSTALLING GRAB BARS QUESTIONS:
Q. Can any Grab Bar work with WingIts?
A. No, many can though. Two considerations are the holes on the grab bar flange aligning with the holes on the WingIt and the "snap-on" cover being deep enough to conceal the WingIt. We recommend Bobrick Commercial Grab Bars as well as our own extensive line of Grab Bars. If you have another make/model it is best to contact our customer service team at (877) 894-6448 to verify compatibility.
Q. How big of a hole do I need to install the Grab Bar WingIt?
A. 1.25" - don't worry its all part of the engineering. If you are installing into Ceramic Wall Tile or any difficult material, use our Carbide Hole Saw - one of the best bargains out there. The 1.25" hole is part of the structural integrity of the WingIt. Remember that the WingIt incorporates the best waterproofing material from 3M and even seals over grout lines.
Q. How do I attach the grab bar to the WingIt?
A. After being installed the Grab Bar WingIt has a large stainless faceplate remaining room side, it has tapped holes and we supply stainless steel screws to attach to the grab bar to our WingIt. WHEN USING OUR GRAB BARS ONLY TWO SCREWS ARE REQUIRED PER FLANGE, as the gives you a little play during the installation and is still very secure.
Q. What wall substrates can the WingIt be used in?
A. The WingIt can be used in: • All Ceramic Tile • All Faux Marble, acrylic or other types of laminates over drywall. • Plaster & Lathe. • Masonry Boards. • Plain drywall, minimum 5/8" thickness. • One piece tub surrounds @ 1/4" thickness - others will hold but flexing would need to be avoided by placing the grab bar where the surround makes a shape (for stability).
Q. How do I make sure I avoid the wall stud when installing the WingIt?
A. Use "stud finders" or look at the opposite side of the wall. When you are not positive of where the stud is, drill a pilot hole then insert an 'L' shaped wire. Twirl the wire and make sure you don't hit an obstruction. If you do hit the wall stud, then just move over up to 1" and install the WingIt. The WingIt will actually seal the initial pilot hole!
Q. What if I have more questions?
A. Feel free to review our web site, send us an e-mail at info@wingits.com, or call us toll free at 877.894.6448.
